Amazement sets in!

Something amazing happened! I have just been awarded my second Silver IPPY for my new book ‘BLACK TIDE’. It will be awarded while the Book Expo America is happening in NYC in June (no, I will not be there). The first Silver IPPY went to my second book, ‘Halocline’ last year 2011. In fact all three of my novels have won awards. Amazing indeed! Out of the thousands of self-published books printed each year there had to be some pretty mean competition and I am thankful to all of you. Our writing speaks of our times, regardless of genre or time periods. We have much to say.

Somehow the judges at IPPY took the time and effort to read my work and bring it into the light (there is a pun there if you’ve ever read my stuff.) Thanks to all involved in the IPPY awards, especially the authors without which…

This is not the end. We at Black Water Books have the fourth novel (working title ‘STONE’) in the pipe and hope to publish by the end of the year. The battle between good and evil continues. My people bear the brunt of the incursion, as always, but evil gets to give the world a taste of it in the form of a traveling art exhibit. This is as dark a novel as I have ever written; the pace as wicked as the evil itself.  ‘STONE’ is as refreshing as it is familiar, but in a dark, torturous, foul and painful way. A new incubus is coming!!!

Mahalo to the IPPY staff and of course all the daring readers who reach beyond the status quo.

‘anoxic zone’, ‘Halocline’ and ‘BLACK TIDE’ are obtainable many other places on-line and in e-books as well. Signed paperback copies can be bought directly from the author as well!

About john g rees

John g rees is not your average horror writer. Not your average martyr either. After the death of his father and that of a close friend, john found the release he was loooking for and started writing. Born in the Midwest some half-century ago to two soon-to-be morticians, one can see where his ‘dead pan’ humor truly came from. Playing amongst the caskets and his catholic school upbringing underscore much of his work. He went through many types of employment. Moving west first to San Francisco, finally making his home in the Hawaiian Islands, john g rees has worked in many diverse, yet tangent fields: from the repair of Ferraris to the repair of underwater dock pilings; painting houses to painting ship zincs; general construction to general salvage diving on many sized ships - working out of Pearl Harbor for a while, on Navy vessels, some top secret. He has traveled the world looking for work and play in out of the way places. Never finding what he expects. He likes it that way. He has been happily married for 20 years.
